Ty Butler

From rock bottom to the starting line

Ty B 2.JPEG

Ty Butler grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona and had his first drink at fourteen. For decades he functioned, successfully, by most measures. A businessman, a husband, a father of four. But addiction has a way of collecting on its debts, and when Ty's rock bottom arrived, it arrived fast and hard. Police custody. A DUI. A restraining order that kept him from his children. And a darkness so complete that suicide felt like the only way out.

By the grace of God, it wasn't.

What followed was not just a recovery but a reconstruction. Ty rebuilt himself from the ground up with the same relentless discipline that would eventually carry him across three full Ironman finish lines and nearly a dozen Ironman 70.3 events. That journey began when his brother-in-law, an amputee, completed a full Ironman in 2018 and challenged Ty to enter a triathlon. He signed up for a half. Then a full. And he never stopped.

Today, Ty is the founder of Canyon Recovery Services, a certified ARISE interventionist with Blackburn Clinical Services in Los Angeles, and a men's recovery mentor whose mission is singular: to prove that life doesn't end in sobriety. It begins there.

His program is built on the conviction that men in recovery are capable of becoming exceptional. Not just sober, but disciplined, purposeful, physically strong, and deeply present for the people who need them most. The 12-step program is non-negotiable. Spirituality is foundational. And the standard Ty holds for his residents is the same one he holds for himself every single day.

Ty is a father of four, ages 16, 14, 12, and 9, and they are his north star. His daily mission is to become the kind of man his daughters would be proud to marry and his son would be proud to become. That mission drives everything at Canyon.

When he is not working with clients or conducting interventions, Ty is training for his next endurance race, skiing the mountains outside McCall, spending time with his two dogs, or soaking up the sun on the shores of Payette Lake. He savors every breath. After rock bottom, every single one is a blessing. He has been given a second chance and he will not waste another day of his life in mediocrity.

Sobriety is the baseline. Excellence is the standard.

Intervention Services

Ty brings lived experience that no clinical degree can replicate. He has walked the road of addiction and recovery personally and holds his residents to the same standard he demands of himself every single day.

As a certified ARISE interventionist with Blackburn Clinical Services, in Los Angeles, Ty works directly with families navigating the crisis of addiction. If your loved one needs help before they are ready to ask for it, Ty knows how to open that door.

Men's Lifestyle Coaching

Clinical Collaboration

Sobriety is the starting point, not the finish line. Ty coaches men on fitness discipline, personal standards, nutrition, and identity so they leave Canyon prepared to lead exceptional lives as fathers, husbands, and members of their communities.

Canyon works alongside therapists, treatment centers, and referring professionals to support each resident's individual recovery plan. Referrals are handled quickly and communication is maintained with providers throughout the process.

I believe every man who walks through the door at Canyon is capable of becoming exceptional. Not just sober, but disciplined, purposeful, and worth showing up for. That belief drives everything we do here.
